Know your metals

Copper is reddish, brass is yellow and aluminium is light and silver. A magnet does not stick to any of them, which helps separate them from iron.

Sort before you call

Keep bright copper wire, pipes and mixed copper separate. Do not mix brass with copper and do not mix aluminium utensils with aluminium sheets.

Adding water, dirt or other metal lowers trust and the rate. Clean material gets a better price.

Ask for digital weighing and confirm the rate before the weight is taken. Larger sorted lots get better rates.
